Surgical Treatment of Intractable Cordocele Complication Following Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Repair

Abstract
Total extraperitoneal mesh hernioplasty (TEP) is a widely accepted and well-established laparoscopic technique for inguinal hernia repair. This surgical procedure involves reinforcement of the hernial defects with a synthetic mesh, which subsequently induces an acute inflammatory reaction, followed by a chronic foreign body response, creating scar tissue. Postoperative complications can be minor (hematomas or seromas of the genitalia, testicular pain, urinary retention, secondary hydroceles, chronic groin pain) or major (vessel injury, bladder damage, secondary mesh migration into the urinary bladder). We report a case of intractable spermatic cord hydrocele complications following laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair and review the relevant literature.
